Excited for your trip to Saudi Arabia? To ensure a safe and healthy travel experience, it is crucial to take appropriate measures to protect against diseases. By getting vaccinated and consulting with a healthcare professional at Amani before traveling, travelers can significantly reduce their risk of contracting yellow fever, measles, or hepatitis A.
Amani provides specialized travel consultations and vaccinations to ensure the health and safety of travelers. Our team of travel health specialists will evaluate your individual circumstances, inform you of any health risks associated with your destination, and recommend personalized vaccinations and medications to ensure your well-being during your travels.
Travelers entering Saudi Arabia for Umrah, Hajj, or seasonal work in Hajj zones must comply with vaccination entry requirements. It is in your best interest to ensure that all requirements for participating in Hajj or Umrah are met before traveling. Due to the potential for the spread of infectious diseases and increased risk of injury in areas with large crowds, take time to prepare for the trip and learn how to minimize the risks involved. As the Hajj season approaches in just 2 months, we want to ensure certain health-related requirements are met and secure a safe trip for you.
SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19)
When traveling for Hajj, it is mandatory for all travelers from any country to receive this vaccination. Before embarking on any travel, it is essential to check the destination’s COVID-19 vaccination entry/exit requirements. Regardless of the destination, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before traveling to ensure that you are adequately protected against COVID-19.
Oral Polio Vaccine (bOPV)
Travelers from states that have reported cases of WPV1 or cVDPV1 are required to have at least one dose of bivalent oral polio vaccine (bOPV) or inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) for poliomyelitis. It is important to ensure compliance with these requirements for safe and healthy travel.
Yellow Fever
It is mandatory for all travelers above nine months of age who are visiting countries or areas that are at risk of yellow fever transmission. The vaccine provides protection against the virus and helps prevent its spread. It is important to note that the Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is valid for life, starting from 10 days after vaccination. Travelers are required to obtain the vaccination and carry the certificate with them.
Seasonal Influenza
Travelers arriving for Hajj or seasonal work in Hajj areas are recommended to receive the seasonal influenza vaccine. Particularly pregnant women, children under 5 years, the elderly, individuals with chronic medical conditions (such as chronic cardiac, pulmonary, renal, metabolic, neurodevelopmental, liver, or hematologic diseases). Individuals with immunosuppressive conditions (such as HIV/AIDS, receiving chemotherapy or steroids, or malignancy) also need this vaccine. This vaccine provides protection against the seasonal flu, which can cause serious illness and complications, especially in those who are at higher risk.
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is a liver disease that spreads through contaminated food and water or contact with an infected person. Travelers visiting regions with a risk of hepatitis A infection should get vaccinated to reduce the risk of contracting the disease.
In addition to vaccination, the most effective way to reduce the risk of falling ill during travel is to take preventive measures. Our experts at Amani recommend using insect repellent, following good food and water safety practices, washing your hands regularly to prevent the spread of disease, and avoiding close contact with sick individuals.
Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B is a liver disease that spreads through contact with bodily fluids or blood. Travelers who may be at risk of exposure, such as through sexual contact, medical treatment, sharing needles, tattooing, acupuncture, or occupational exposure, should get vaccinated to protect against this disease.
Measles
Measles is a highly contagious viral illness that can spread rapidly through direct contact and droplets in the air. Anyone who is not vaccinated against measles is at risk of contracting it when traveling internationally. It is essential to consult with a healthcare professional at Amani before traveling to ensure that you are adequately protected against measles.
Malaria
is a serious and potentially fatal disease that is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Unfortunately, there is currently no vaccine available to protect against malaria. To reduce the risk of contracting malaria, it is important to take measures to protect yourself from mosquito bites. This includes covering up exposed skin, using insect repellent, and staying in enclosed, air-conditioned accommodations. Additionally, pre-treating clothing and travel gear with insecticides and sleeping under an insecticide-treated bednet can also help prevent mosquito bites.
To prepare for your trip, we strongly recommend speaking with one of our travel vaccine specialists.
