It's a requirement for several professions, such as those in healthcare and social services, to have current immunizations and a negative Tuberculosis skin test. We can make this procedure as easy as possible for you while you get ready for school, practicum or a career!
The Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) can detect tunerculosis infection. A TST can detect whether or not an individual has ever been exposed to tuberculosis. The TST cannot establish the duration of tuberculosis infection or whether the TB bacteria are latent (sleeping) or active.
A TST consists of two parts: the injection and the observation. As a result, you must visit the clinic twice.
First appointment: A healthcare expert injects a small amount of Tubersol beneath the outermost layer of skin on your forearm. This might lead to swelling beneath the skin which will be checked within the next 48 to 72 hours.
Second Appointment: After 48 to 72 hours, you must return to the clinic to have a medical professional analyze the area of injection. A nurse will check for a reaction in the area where the skin test was done. The swelling beneath the skin will be measured to determine infection. You will be informed of your test results and given next steps in this appointment.

For your TB skin test, two appointments will be set up. Two appointments, separated by 48–72 hours, are necessary for this test.
We will inquire about any vaccinations you may have received within four weeks of your scheduled TB test when you make your appointment. We will schedule your visit for one month after you had one of the following immunizations: MMR (measles/mumps/rubella), varicella (chickenpox), shingles vaccine (Zostavax), and yellow fever.

You will need to bring:
You can try requesting information about your vaccination history from a family member, your doctor, or the clinic where you received your childhood immunizations. If it is not possible to obtain this information, we will administer the vaccinations required for your job or school. We may also suggest that you get a blood test to learn more about your medical and vaccination history.
To find the ideal strategy for you, you must set up a meeting. One of our nurses will analyze your medical history and propose the best course of action at your consultation to make sure you are ready for work or school. The nurse will suggest whether it would be ideal for you to get the shots during your visit or whether a lab request for a blood test should be given instead. You can learn about your immunization and disease histories through a blood test.
You shouldn't get the test if any of the following apply to you:
